OCEAN VILLAGE HISTORY

It has been nearly 50 years since Ocean Village's first owners, Betty and Bob Greene moved into the 300 building of Capstan. The city of Fort Pierce had approved the plans for construction in 1973, and the following year the initial phases of OV were completed.  In addition to Capstan, this included the golf course, main pool and the restaurant - at that time called "The Inn at Ocean Village."

The remainder of the 1970s saw the completion and opening of Coral Cluster, Ocean Villas I, II and III, Catamaran I, Beachtree I and the Golf Villas.  In 1980, Catamaran II and Beachtree II opened for occupancy, and two of three Seascape I buildings received post-occupancy permits.  The first owner-controlled Board of Directors was elected in 1986.

Today there are 1228 residences comprising of 16 clusters within Ocean Village, each with its own HOA.  Since those early years, OV has added tennis courts, pickleball courts, five additional swimming pools, bocce, shuffleboard and a poolside Tiki bar to its amenities, which also includes 3500 feet of pristine private beach.

As of this writing additional pickleball courts and a beautiful new clubhouse are about to begin construction, maintaining Ocean Village's reputation as the Treasure Coast's most active private waterfront community.
